Happy 1 year anniversary to me and Matt!

Crazed Ramblings from my Mind:

Matt says my ramblings today should be on pornography. So here goes...A Brief History of Pornography! Just for you, my friend. Ask nearly anyone their definition of pornography and they will say "sexual pictures." There are many examples of sexually explicit art throughout human history. The earliest known examples of such art are colorful cave painting made by our ancestors. These often emphasized a particular part of anatomy, for example the penis or the labia. Other examples include the artwork of the ancient Greek, who sculpted their statues with larger-than-life sized genitals, and painted urns depicting male and female homosexuality.Several plays written during that time were very sexual in nature. However, the artwork of the ancient Greeks, Romans and other civilizations can not truly be counted as pornography for the simple reason that pornography could not exist without cenorship. These ancients viewed sex as a natural part of life and never tried to hide its influence on everyday life. More towards our own time, it was the Puritans, with their strange idea that getting enjoyment out of sex would send a person tumbling straight into hell that started to bring about the censorship we see today. Of course, we have skin magazines, can rent adult videos, and there is always the ever popular internet. But in our present day society the sex act is treated as something dirty and shameful, instead of one of the most important parts of human life. **I got some of the information from this website. A couple of others I came across while searching on the web is this one and this one.

I keep promising pictures so I've decided to post a few. I'll even throw in a free story to make them more interesting. I'm so nice! You know the old saying "Everybody loves the NayNay!". (Matt just said "Especially Sammy at 4 in the morning") Here are a few of the cutest pictures of Esther and Sammy that we've taken so far. Little Esther letting us know she didn't want to be left behind on the next trip. Here is Esther with a big grin on her face, and Sammy staring at her paw like a frat boy on an acid trip. Further proof that cats really can sleep anywhere. A picture of my cute Matt with both kitties, this was taken a couple of days before we left for Gatlinburg. Here Sammy is asleep, which is what she does at least 23 hours a day. And finally, here is a picture of little Esther that I took, and which I think is the cutest kitten picture of all time. But you be the judge :-)

Okay, time for some non-kitten pics. Here I am looking for the weeks' recipies. Here is me and Matt at our wedding. I'll post some more wedding pictures later, just don't have time to scan them in right now.

Lists of the Day:

My Personal Projects

  1. Finishing the arduous task of writing thank you notes, and putting a picture from the wedding in each envelope.
  2. Organizing my recipe collection. (With thousands of recipes, that's no easy task!)
  3. Making my best friend, Rachel's, birthday present. Shhh...it's a surprise. Hopefully, I'll be done by october.
  4. Learning to speak italian fluently (I'm getting better!), and also to know the basics in a few other languages.

Quotes!

Some Old Stuff I found in my Original Quote Book

  1. Have you ever had a caus-caus on your head?--Jack Hannah. Sounds pretty philosophical to me. You know, like a monkey on your shoulder?
  2. If I smelled as bad as you I wouldn't live near people--KIm Darby in True Grit.
  3. And they call me barbarian--Morgan Freeman in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
  4. They're not gonna catch us. We're on a mission from God--Dan Akroyd in a true classic, The Blues Brothers.
  5. You leave? Good. I mean, good luck--Curse of the Pink Panther.
  6. If somebody's shootin' at you, you gotta do better than try!--Curse of the Pink Panther.
  7. Greetings Sled God!--Cool Runnings. Back in high school this quote was one of mine and Rachel's favorites. We found ways to use it everyday. That and the infamous clock gods.
  8. Peas are spinich? Popeye's gonna get very upset--Jack Klugman in The Odd Couple series. Let's see how many people 30 and over remember that one.
  9. You gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?--Clint Eastwood in The Outlaw Josey Wales.
  10. There are only three ways to deal with a blackmailer. You can pay him and pay him and pay him until you're penniless. Or, you can call in the police yourself and let your secret be known to the world. Or, you can kill him--Edward G. Robinson in The Woman in the Mirror (or The Woman in the Window--I'm not sure which is the correct title.)

Question from Me to the World
Thought I'd bring in a current event today. I read a recent poll that says 1/3 of the American public believes that weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq. Almost as many said that Iraq used chemical and biological weapons as well. The fact is, nothing was ever found. If you remember, the so-called threat of these WMD's was the main rallying cry for the war in the first place. The also threw in the "Oh saddam is just so evil" line, hoping that would sway the few who couldn't be convinced of the WMDs. Well, now the war is officially over but we are still having service men and women shot everyday by armed guerilla forces. So my question is, how did so many people in America get duped into believing these big lies? Surely not that many people believe the word of Fox News to be some sort of gospel? My personal feelings about the war is that, obviously, it never should have happened. My main reasons are Iraq is a tiny, dirt-poor country with practically no military, who never would have attacked the US in the first place. Think about it, a tiny country with no resources attacking the only super-power in the world? No leader is that dumb. Second reason, yes, this really did have a lot to do with oil, and with the Israelis wanting to have all their enemies subdued in the Middle East.
