What the Bored Read (for lack of something better to do)

Crazed Ramblings from my Mind:

Just got back from Matt's mom's family reunion, it was the most German speaking people together in one place that I've ever seen. Very nice people, too. The great occaison was Omi's 100th birthday party. Omi is what they call their great-grandmother, it's a German term. For a hundred year old lady, she looked really great. Very sharp mind too, which is amazing at that age. When Matt and I first got there she was sitting at the kitchen table helping some other women fix fruit. The get-together was held at her niece's beautiful home. She and her husband are both veterinarians so they have a large (yet very tasteful) house and a huge yard. There was plenty of room for 40 people, 7 dogs, too many kitties to count, and 5 horses.
I spent most of the time playing fetch with the dogs, and chatting with a few of Matt's relatives. The vet, Debbie, who is Matt's cousin is a true animal lover. About the time Matt and I were saying our goodbyes she invited us to help her "laser" an abandoned feral kitten. The little feller was so tiny he could hide in the palm of your hand. His two brothers had died after being rescued, and no one knows where the mother cat is. But this little guy is a fighter, and if you over look that he's practically bald, under-sized, and has really flaky skin (imagine a person with body dandruff), and just look into his cute kitten face with those impossibly vivid blue eyes you would simply adore him. Deb asked me to hold him, which really surprised me. A kitten that small, I was really afraid I'd accidently hurt him. But, to my happy amazement, he actually liked me and didn't want to leave my hand when it was time to go.
Well, as usual we forgot to take a camera. We were going to take one, but didn't bother. You'd think I would have learned by now to always have a camera handy because there really is no way to predict when a great picture oppurtunity will present itself. Even though we have a digital camera my camera of choice is the disposable Kodak HQ. My real camera of choice is too expensive to afford right now :-)

Lists of the Day:

List of Things that Look Better Painted A Deep Shade of Blue

  1. Sporty cars, like Matt's.
  2. The sky, clouds optional.
  3. Bathroom walls, that way you could pretend to be drowning while sitting there with nothing to do.
  4. Pianos. Where is it said that all pianos have to be black?
  5. Pets. Think about it. A bright blue puppy would be a great conversation piece.

Question from Me to the World
Matt and I are anti-circumcision. If we ever have a son, we have decided to never have this painful, inhumane, and unnecessary surgery done. One question I have is why do Americans consider male circumcision to be a justifiable medical procedure, but we consider primative those people who practice female circumcisions? Can there really be a difference between the two? I think not, and I'm glad to see that more and more parents are fighting against this cruel ritual.
