Happy Anniversary to my Wonderful Mom and Dad

Crazed Ramblings from my Mind:

Didn't have time to update the site yesterday, though I doubt seriously too many people noticed. I, for one, was very busy doing fun, time-consuming chores such as figuring out who gave us what wedding gift (we had a list, but can't find it) and trying to find places to store all the new stuff we got. Oh and just trying to keep the house clean in general, you know, the usual mess. Soon, I promise, I'll scan some photos and have them on here. Very soon.
Came across a few very interesting articles while browsing the web today. For starters, an Italian senior government official has been quoted saying that Italy should resort to violence to rid itself of illegal (and nonproductive) immigrants. I bet there are plenty of people in America who would agree with him. Also, here is one for the religious buffs out there. Be prepared to be very open-minded if you're going to read this. (But I still recommend you do read this, to at least get another point of view). The historic Jesus. I know it's long, but it's well worth reading the entire article.
On a lighter note, I can finally see parts of the livingroom floor again. I managed to finish two (2!) entire thank-you cards last nite, and drop them in the mailbox. I've been playing Match the Relative to the Gift because I have no idea where my list of who got us what has disappeared. That's good. Now all I have to worry about is inserting a picture in each envelope and we'll be all set.
Finally, here is a little note for all the ladies out there. I'm pretty sure most people have heard of Kegel exercises. This is an interesting medical site that talks about the importance of strengthening your pelvic floor muscles. They also sell a set of Kegel weights that are used to help isolate the muscle. They come to about $50 in US money.

Lists of the Day:
Time for some new countdown lists! Also, on a side note, I've decided to change my Daily To Do list to more of a school schedule style list. Maybe now I can get everything done! :-)

Top 4 Events I'm Counting Down This Moment

  1. College starting (again!)...around 56 days!!
  2. Trying to Start a Family...25 days!! ;-) woohoo!!
  3. Running the errands for the day...As soon as I finish this!!
  4. Our honeymoon...15 or so days!!

What I Would Change If I Were President

  1. No more religious wars!! Israel can do their own fighting for awhile, and Without a boatload of money and equipment from the US. Definately read this article then do a google search on the topic.
  2. I would outlaw all billboards. I hate those things with a passion. I think they're dangerous for one, the way they catch your eye as your driving 75 up the highway. And they're just plain annoying, especially near a large city like Chicago.
  3. Make a law stating that for the next 25 years (to start) all companies here on US soil have to hire American workers as their first choice. Now, if there is a position open, and all the American applicants have the IQs of banana nut bread, then of course, hire a competent immigrant. But don't overlook (or fire) an American making $12 an hour to hire an immigrant willing to work for $5 an hour. One point I need to clarify though, I have nothing against immigration. Some of my relatives emigrated from Italy in the early to mid-1900s. The problem I have is with the company leaders who are so concerned about lining their own pockets they're willing to lay-off hundreds of workers.
  4. I would also outlaw any ludicrous, time-consuming, and money wasting courtcases. I'm sure that everyone can tell just by common sense what is ridiculous and what isn't. Some, like this one are downright crazy.
  5. Find the best way to bring factory and high-tech jobs back over here so that our citizens can support their families and not have the stigma of living off the government teat.

Question from Me to the World
I was directed to a website yesterday by a publication we get at our apartment. This is the official site of the US Department of Education. Sounds like it would be an excellent site, right? Well, I admit I disagreed with the very first line I read on the main page. "Every child can learn, and we mean it...excuses are not good enough, we need results"--Secretary Rod Paige. Now, on the surface, I know this statement is going to make a lot of people happy. These are the people whose sons and daughters have always had difficulty in school. The ones who aren't in honors classes, or academic teams. Well, guess what? Get over it! Not everyone has a strong mind, capable of unraveling complex mental examinations. Some people are--simply put--born to be laborers. To use their brawn instead of their brains. The only way (that I can see) that we could have an educational system in which all children can learn is to lower the expectations and standards of said system to the point in which any child can pass. And that, my friend, is unfair both to the intelligent child who doesn't realize his or her full potential, and also to the less intelligent child for giving them false hope for when they to enter the adult, working world. If anyone has any comments on this, I'd be glad to hear them. My email is at the bottom of the page.
