Crazed Ramblings from My Mind:

Am I ever glad of two things. Number one, college is practically over. Number two, and more importantly, I don't live in Louisiana. For one thing, a seven year old boy was held in from recess, sent to the principal, then made to attend a week-long behavioral clinic all for explaining to another child that his mother is lesbian. Can you imagine what kind of emotional effects something like this would have on a child that age? Not only that, but the school refuses to apologize for how they reacted to the child's innocent explanation to his classmate. Then there's the sophomore at Parkway High, also in Louisiana, who was expelled for an entire year for having Advil in her purse. Yep, Advil. The stuff people take for headaches. Somehow, a high school student who discreetly carries an over-the-counter pain reliever in her pocketbook for headaches is subject to the school systems "zero tolerance policy." It's cases like this that our making our public schools such a laughingstock. All the more reason Matt and I are determined to home school our future kids.

Steve of Smiziley's Blog fame just sent me this addictive little game. Let's see if you have what it takes to locate Lenny.

I finally wrote a speech about the dangers of water fluoridation and presented it to my speech class as my final oral assignment. It's very informative and well worth a look. Even if you don't see any reason to oppose fluoridation for medical reasons, there's always the ethical implications. Is it lawful to mass medicate a people? Should I be forced to drink fluoridated water just because it might help reduce the number of dental caries a few kids might have? What about the people on dialysis whose kidneys aren't working to their full capacity. Is it fair to them that they are being slowly poisoned because their bodies can't rid itself of the toxin? Anyone at all interested in this subject should read the book Fluoride the Aging Factor by Dr. John Yiamouyiannis, the most respected authority on the toxicity of fluoride.

My Very Simple Argument Against the RIAA's Harassment of Average People

or Why the Recording Industry is Losing Money

The RIAA wants to blame people who download from Kazaa and similar programs for the recent drop off of CD sells. Well, here are what I consider the real reasons.

A. CDs cost way to much. Who wants to pay $18 or $20 just to hear someone mumble some lyrics?
B. Most of the music heard on the radio is of the cookie-cutter-this-sucks-like-everything-else variety. I was listening to a Country station at work, and every new song sounded exactly like the song before it. They just changed a few key words. "Oh Lorleen, I love your jeans." Next song: "Oh, Henrietta, I love your Corvette-ah." And so forth.
C. There's also our terrible economy! Right now, people have less discretionary income, which means they aren't spending it on luxuries like CDs, DVDs, pool tables or 50 gallon deep fryers.

Fact! Opinion! Whatever!

Hey, fellow college students! Who else besides me is so ready for this semester to be over? This is finals week for me, and then I'm free, FREE!! until spring semester. But I'm not going to think of that right now. I'm just looking to a nice, relaxing break. Woohoo!!
