Crazed Ramblings from my Mind:
Can you believe it's almost time for midterms already? Can I? Nope. I still feel like college has barely started. Hell,
we're only on chapter three in algebra, and it's already time for another test. I have three exams next week, so I'll be
spending this weekend hunched over a book studying. If I ever look up I'll let you know. Somehow I doubt it.
So is anyone paying attention to the goings-on in California? Ex-actors, current actors,
ex-porn stars. Is anyone who has,
say, a political background running for governor? No? Well, I must admit, I didn't think so. Not that I'm paying too much
attention, mainly because I haven't been within two thousand miles of the state in my entire life. But the little bit I have
heard about almost makes me wish I had more leisure time.
This cartoon should be posted on every high school classroom
wall.
What do you get when you mix an overweight, hypertensive woman who thinks she's pregnant
with an emergency cesarean section? Well actually...nothing.

Matt's Incoherent Rant
The first of Matt's guest editorials
Here is my problem with feel-good globalists. By feel-good globalists, I mean someone who supports free trade because it helps
improve the lives of all the poor little people in other countries. My problem is simply that these feel-gooders are
hypocrites. They claim they are all about helping others, but instead they stab the other half in the back.
Sure, you help those people in the foreign countries. But what about Americans, Europeans, and others in the "high cost of
living" bracket?
If you haven't noticed, we are experiencing major unemployment in the United States. Why? Sept 11th and the economic downturn,
so say the experts. Hmmm, maybe, but I see it a different way.
Lets start with a few simple concepts. For economy to work, people have to spend money. To spend money, people must have
money to spend. With no money coming in, people will only spend on the bare essentials.
Now the globalists are trumpeting about how making goods in lower cost countries will lower the cost of goods for consumers.
True. So we lay off millions of factory workers. Now we have millions unemployed. Do they run off and buy that shiny new SUV?
Or the new Chinese made VCR, even though it is only $40? Nope. So what are they to do? Retrain?
Ok - let's look at the last big "retraining" wave. After the last downturn under Bush I, many many people got into computers.
It was the college major to have. Now the globalists have decided that outsourcing all those jobs overseas will decrease costs
of goods and services. True. Now what are all these people to do? Retrain and get other jobs? What jobs? Show me a job I can
support my wife and future kids on.
To sum up, what are we really gaining through global trade? We are becoming (have become) a nation of consumers. We don't
make anything. So what are we to do, here in America while you are out helping the poor people in other countries? We're
becoming poor as well. Race to the bottom for all of us - and a race to the bank for the CEOs - and they'll all cash out
before it all crashes down around us.
Guess what? Poor people don't buy things, so all your low low prices don't mean anything.
Globalists are traitors to their countries.
Fact! Opinion! Whatever!
Driving really brings out the most evil part of me. Oh, I don't mind people who tailgate, or who drive 15 miles per hour
under the speed limit when there's no way to get around them. I can even stand those people who suddenly turn with no signal,
or who pull out right in front of me, then laugh as I slam the brakes. No, the only thing that really gets to me, the only
thing that puts my evil
heart in a murderous rage is the sound of a honking horn. I hate that. On the drive home today I was sitting at a red light
waiting to make a right hand turn. I'm well aware that turning right on red is perfectly legal--as long as you stop and check
traffic first. The dumb Kopf in the truck behind me obviously had no patience for anyone who wanted to make
sure nothing was coming, and blasted his loud, obnoxious, irritating horn in an effort to make me move. Which, I will add, did
not work. I still didn't go until I had made sure no one was coming, mainly because I'm not dumb enough to drive blindly into a
busy intersection and get myself killed just so some hairy-butted moron can have the luxery of moving thirty seconds faster.
What's ironic is just the other day Matt and I were talking about the driving habits of the people here in Illinois, and I
mentioned that I'd be afraid to blast my horn for the simple fact that you have no idea who that
person is in front of you. For all you know, they might be strung out on drugs, or just broke up with their spouse of twenty
years, or just buried their only child. That being said, with my luck, if I were to ever honk at someone (without very good
cause), they would probably point their cocked and loaded semi-automatic
handgun at my windshield and pull the trigger. And in a strange way, I wouldn't hold it against them.
