Paying homage to the big yaller truck
Crazed Ramblings from my Mind:
I picked Rachel up from the airport wednesday afternoon and we've been having a great time ever since. Thursday I spent most
of the day in different classes, and she accompanied me to two of those. I'm in the Child Care program which means that most
of my classes are a lot of fun. More fun than majoring in something like Business or anyhow. We rented American Pyscho and
Chicago with Renée Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones. We watched American Pyscho with Matt late wednesday night. It is
definately one of the strangest movies I'd ever seen. Then thursday nite Rachel and I watched Chicago after the three of us
went to Olive Garden for dinner. The movie ended at 2 a.m. and we stayed up till 2:30 dancing to the end credits. She can
dance a whole lot better than I can. I'm so stiff I make an old wooden board look like a limp noodle. I liked Chicago so much
that I bought the soundtrack today so we can all listen to it on the way up to Chicago tomorrow. Heh, what a coincidence! The
three of us are heading up to Chicago tonite and spending tomorrow touring the city. We're going to have a great weekend!
One of the funniest things Matt and I have recently seen was a woman walking a skunk
on a leash at Petco. We were picking out
a new litter box for the cats and she walked down the aisle we in carrying the strangest looking animal. I thought it was a
huge, genetically enhanced ferret on steroids
and Matt had no idea what it was. She turned out to be a veterinarian who had always had a soft spot in her heart for skunks.
The skunk was a very interesting animal, about as big as a medium sized cat and she walked everywhere backwards. I still don't
think I'd like to have one, though. I'll just stick with puppies and kitties.
We're going to be sure and take a whole ton of pictures while we're up in Chicago so the next Huluhae will have plenty of new
ones. I know we're going to Navy Pier, which is one of the most famous attractions in
the city.
While I'm there I'll try to snap a few shots of the surrounding view
from the ferris wheel.
Big thanks to Mom #2 for signing my guestbook not only once but twice! I appreciate the kind thoughts and birthday
wishes, too.
Rachel's Contribution!
Hihi! Here's my first attempt at a guest contribution for Huluhae. Nay just said she was a Yeti... Isn't that wonderful? Let's
give her a hand, folks! Anyway, we're on our way out the door to Matt's parents' house, as it's closer to Chicago than we are
now. Looking forward to it, dunno if we'll get to go barhopping... ;)
Nay and I had fun this morning, despite the fact that we didn't wake up 'til 11:30 (just in time to return Chicago to the
video store)... then we went swimming. Our entertainment then was to invent silly ways of swimming. We had the Log, the
Earthworm (which is banned), the Egyptian (though I notice that it looks more like Plains Indian when Nay does it), and even
the Moby Dick, among many others.
Ah, the entertainment. We went to lunch at Arby's, then to a craft-y store. By then it was already time to come home. *sigh*
And now, the time has come... to go! B-bye now, have a nice life! Until next time...
Shout-outs: Hi Mom & Dad! Hi Matinee! Hi Mom & Dad #2! Hi siblings of my bestest friend! (don't worry, I'll be over to visit
when I get back) Hi Mr. GBG (the one, the only)! And hi to everyone else!
Quotes from the Pool Courtesy of NayNay and Rach
- New discovery: you can't swim with your butt.
- I'm going to do the Egyptian swim. That looks more like Plains Indian, Nay.
- The earthworm swim is banned!
- I'm going to swim like a log. A log? Eh, maybe not.
- I like the rain dance one the best! I like the raindance one the best! Oops my raindance went too far. Does that
mean torrential floods?
- And, I died.
- I'm a flock of geese! I'm a flock of geese!
Fact! Opinion! Whatever!
I hope all the warmongers are finally happy. We've managed to win a war against a non-threatening country that never had a
chance against us in the first place. I don't care what Bush, Cheney, Rice, or anyone else says. There is no way Iraq could
have threatened the United States. After twelve years of sanctions the country could hardly afford toilet paper. Yet, we bomb,
we maim, we kill entire families and leave kids like twelve year old Ali Ismaeel Abbas orphaned, severely burned and missing
both arms after being hit with a missile while he slept. (Link without pictures
or link with pictures). Doctors will be able to fit him for
prosthetic arms, and already there are people kind enough to donate money to help him. The more important issue now is, who
will take the place of his family? Who will love, raise, and nurture this little boy? His pregnant mom, dad, and siblings are
dead. Are any of our leaders, the same people who
salivated over the thought of this war, going to help him, or the thousands of others like him? The answer is no. So, I hope
everyone feels good about the war. Just remember Ali while you're busy celebrating, and maybe take an extra minute
to hug your own son or daughter against your chest, ever thankful that they aren't the one in the photo.
