Crazed Ramblings from my Mind:
Well, I managed to get to my dental appointment yesterday. A few things have changed in the past ten years, but that's really
to be expected whenever a large amount of time has passed. This particular dental office has a TV mounted above each dental chair
in the cleaning room that plays pre-selected videos dealing with healthy teeth and gums. It was all basic knowledge but still
very interesting. Okay, I know I promised I'd tell how my visit went. First the good news. According to the hygienist I have a "beautiful
smile" and "great gums." My gums are great because they didn't bleed when they were poked with a sharp object to measure them.
It wasn't the most pleasant feeling in the world but since I was watching the amazing world of floss on the boobtube I barely
even noticed. Now for the not-so-good news. She placed a small camera in my mouth so that giant images of my teeth showed up
on the television screen. Trust me, a huge mouth hanging right above your head is not a pretty site. Most of
my teeth looked fine except the deep grooves of my molars where it's impossible to clean thoroughly with a toothbrush. She told
the dentist about that and he took a good look at them. Here's where the bad news comes in. The dentist looked at them, poked,
prodded, and decided I need seven fillings done before they get any worse. At $104 a filling the work is going to come to over
$700. Ouch. I'm having the first two
or three done in early september. Trust me, I am not looking forward that date. I can say one thing, I'll definately be
making regular visits to the dentist from now on.
Put up some new pictures of our drive out to Ohio. Unfortunately, we couldn't take pictures from Cedar Point or Splash
City. Of course, there are also some kitten pictures thrown in as well. If you'd like to see those, click here. You can also
get to them by using the link "random photos" at the bottom of the page.
Last nite, as Matt and I were taking our stroll around the lakes I remarked to him that I really like how some of our neighbors
have decorated their porches. Most people have set out potted plants with the bright flowers adding a pretty splash of color
to the scenery. I decided I was going to get two or three plants also. We hardly go out on the porch and I noticed for the
first time how filthy it really was. Dried grass on the concrete and a thick accumulationn of grime on the aluminum siding. I
swept the porch for a few minutes until I heard a knock at the front door. It was our next door neighbor bringing us our mail
that had been mistakenly put in her box. I noticed how dirty the front door is and decided to wash it after I swept. As I was
doing that, the neighbor came back outside so as a thank-you for bringing our mail I offered to wash her door, too. In about
half and hour both doors looked great but the siding looked terrible. So I cleaned that as high as I could reach. Everything
was so dirty I had to put fresh water in the bucket at least 10 times. Now all we have to do is wash windows and sandpaper and
revarnish the outdoor table and we'll be adding our own pretty flowers in no time.
Oops! Matt accidently erased my guestbook entries. So, if you've already signed, or even if you haven't, please sign my guest
book (again). Thank-ya Sparky. Oh yeah, just for fun, try to find the two hidden surprises he left for me somewhere on that
page. They're pretty funny. Let me know if you see anything.
